Coating aftercare.
How to look after your ceramic coating, from the first week on.
Your coating keeps hardening over the first week. Follow this guide and it will stay glossy, slick and easy to clean for its full rating. Your package and coating are listed on your invoice.
First 7 days
While it cures
Keep it dry. No washing, and garage it or keep it out of rain and sprinklers where you can.
If it does get wet, don't panic. Let it dry, or dab it gently with a clean, soft microfibre. Don't wipe or rub.
Remove bird droppings, bugs and tree sap the same day by dabbing with a damp microfibre. Brisbane sun bakes them into fresh coating.
Avoid parking under trees and near building sites.
No waxes, sealants, quick detailers or polish on the paint.
Driving normally is fine.
Washing
From day 8
Hand wash every 1 to 2 weeks, in the shade on a cool car.
Use a pH neutral car shampoo, two buckets (one soapy, one to rinse the mitt) and a clean microfibre mitt.
Rinse first, then wash from the roof down. Do wheels last with a separate mitt.
Dry straight away with a plush drying towel or a blower, so tap water doesn't leave spots.
Touchless car washes are fine when you're short on time.
Avoid
Any time
Automatic brush car washes. The brushes scratch the paint under the coating.
Dishwashing liquid, degreasers and strong acid or alkaline cleaners on the paint.
Cutting compounds or polishes. They remove the coating.
Scrubbing brushes, sponges and old or dropped cloths.
Holding a pressure washer closer than about 30 cm to the paint.
Keep it performing
Ongoing
No top-ups are needed. If road film dulls the water beading over time, a decontamination wash brings it back. On a Care Plan, a regular topper keeps it strong.
Care Plan: we wash and look after it for you. Weekly, $99 a week, or monthly, $129 a month. A coating topper is included: every 4th weekly visit, every 3rd monthly visit.
Maintenance detail: $169 per visit if you'd rather book one now and then.
Your yearly check-up is included with every coating. We'll inspect it to make sure everything is as it should be, and if the coating isn't performing, we'll fix it. We'll book it in for about 12 months after your coating.
Warranty
Keep your invoice
Your coating also comes with the manufacturer's warranty. Feynlab coatings come with a full warranty pack, handed to you with your car. Kraken warranties are held online.
